But first, in answer to your questions regarding the fate of the potato, my husband used it for his signature dish, baked potatoes.
He showed it no mercy.
One became two.
He separated the conjoined tubers and stuck them in the oven.
We ate them trying to avoid noticing the tell -tale scar of their former romantic state.
I have at last had enough time to devise a new Harris Tweed clutch/handbag.
Larger than the purses from a previous post.
A large roomy pocket that folds over at the top.
It has a velcro fastener, and of course velvet applique and a bit of hand stitch.
I've lined it with some vintage 'Next' curtain fabric, from the early eighties, thick and soft, and there's a small mirror pocket inside.
I will be selling these for £30ish.
Please tell me what you think.
Please tell me what you think.
I have high hopes of the next Craft market.

I love you bag and think it would be a bargain at £30.
I also love the Whitworth Gallery. DH and i might have been coming to Manchester the following weekend for "our special day out" but perhaps we could swap it.
If we don't get there for the craft fair I hope it goes well
Jackie, those colours and textures are divine. I just want to stroke it (with clean hands - of course!!)
Love
Linda
I love the use of the velvet, the texture of this contrasts so beautifully with the Harris Tweed. They are worth more than £30 but alas we can only sell for what people are prepared to pay - still they are getting a bargain so hopefully they will appreciate that.
The bag is gorgeous and a mere snip at £30. Good luck with making four things a day... sounds very ambitious.
(loved your mis-shapen potato... I though saggy boobs!)
They are lovely Jackie - good luck with your sales - I am sure you will do well.
love the brown and green together, a very yummy bag!

Gorgeous - I too love the colours and agree that the price is right :)
Poor wee lovelorn tuber.
I just love this Harris Tweed clutch! Marvelous colours!
I'll tell you what I think. I think it's bloomin' gorgeous! I take my hat off to you for making 4 things a day. I couldn't do it.
Oh and did the potato(es) share vital organs? Or did your husband have to perform any ectomies before baking?
x
Beautiful!
The bag is great value for £30.00 and very beautiful. I admire your determination to make 4 items a day-I've hit a real wall!
That bag is gorgeous! I wonder if I am the only bizarre litle person who dubed your spud; La cour de pomme de terre- which sounded like a revolutionary to me.....if anyone reading this actually writes proper French-I'm really sorry!
Jackie ~ how some Design House has'nt snapped you up is a mystery! Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood, etc., they don't know what they are missing. A devilishly talented artist, that's what!
The bag is sumptuously divine and I look forward to seeing more and more of your beautiful work. Wish I could get to Manc. but I think that's my weekend in Londinium. x
Great bag!
The bag is lovely, the handstitching sets it off and makes it different. I'm sure it would feel very comfortable to carry and the velvet as always is very strokeable.
Good luck with the craft fair and making 4 things a day. No chance if it were me! lol
I love the bags as I have said before I love the combination of the velvet with the tweed... can't get to the market (I am in Calgary) good luck! hope you sell loads...
very nice Jackie - Great idea
The velvet gives the Harris Tweed a touch of opulence, your work just gets more and more inspiring.
Thanks for the comments on my blog. I don't make as much use of Bombay Stores as I should. Its all so overwhelming when you get inside LOL
DH thinks the craft fair at the Whitworth is well worth a visit. Are you there both days? I prefer to go Saturday but DH might prefer Sunday
I love your bag, the contrast between the tweed and the velvet is lovely, I like the fme and the hand stitching. The bag looks nicely put together and you have put a lot of thought into it, but I don't like the velcro. I think a purpose cut black velcro circle would be nicer or a magnetic bag closure if you can find one.
Hello Jackie
I have done a post on my beautiful cuff you made me .I'm so thick I tried to do a link to your blog but somehow it doesn't work .
I want to order a broach for mum shall i email you or go through etsy ??
Love from sesga xx
The clutch bag is very stylish and elegant as well as being practical. A bargain at £30 - they should go like hot cakes. Good Luck.
Gorgeous bag as always, hope you manage the four items a day - way too ambitious for me! Cheers, Robin
Love it! 4 things a day! WOW! You are a busy woman!
What a great combination...the tweed and the velvet look amazing.
Very tactile, I just want to touch it. Love the little cross stitch touch too.
Just popping across from Sesga's blog...her cuff you made is beautiful. And, I will get to see Dot's cuff soon too when I catch up with her for Christmas.
