I learnt with Marion Richardson .....you have brought it back to me all those hours of copying and being told off for not getting it right.
2 mistakes and the page was torn out.

I quite like your handwriting, it's interesting and has some character. I think I'd rather receive inblotted, crossed out, wonky-lined mail for a change, than sterile typed or e letters.

Wow...gone for a few days and look what's happened! First I echo those in your support....your work has been *very* distinctive all along. And second...sorry I missed the handwriting thing. LOL... My handwriting use to be sooo nice...but now is mostly unreadable.

Love it! And I have to say that your script is quite legible...just wait till you see mine! (though, truthfully, I'll probably print, as that's what I normally do)

I too think your handwriting has character Jackie. I can't get to the handwriting icon for some reason to look at who else has participated. Cheers, Robin

Trust you to do an interesting amusing post as well as show your handwriting, AND pictures too! Mine is just blah. Creative women's handwriting is often quite similar, don't you think?

{just found your blog through gigibird...hello!}

i love your idea for a written wednesday post. handwriting has been a bit of an obsession for me since way back. we started out at school with guidelines...drawing a pencil line with a ruler halfway up the line on the page so that all the letters were uniform. then rub out the pencil and voila! i loved those lessons.

when i worked at the post office i used to see everyone's writing. fascinating stuff. there was one man who had the most amazing style. every time he came in with a letter i couldn't help myself and would tell him how in awe of it i was. he would always be embarassed but it made him smile and he always thanked me. he used a fountain pen with sepia ink. i wished i'd taken a sneaky photocopy!

and i agree with sue. a lot of my art teachers and since then peers have had similar styles of handwriting. maybe there's something in the rhythm of the hand of a creative person?

and when you find a good pen? oh the satisfaction!

great blog! today i'll spread the word over at mine. x

Like you, my handwriting has a ghost of Marion Richardson in it. But now tarnished by haste and years of hand-rendering type for sample page layouts before DTP made it all easy peasy!

What a lovely post Jackie, and I had quite forgotten how tortuous the old dip pens were! I am loving the different approaches people have taken to this game.......

I think this is a very interesting idea Jackie. Please add me to the list.

Gosh I hadn't seen that handwriting book in decades. It brings it all back. I'll get mine posted up later.

My school handwriting had loops when iwas a child. Now it varies often because I have to restyle it to fit in for a particular school. Its untidy a lot of the time when I am in a hurry. And I am left handed which means I slant the page (most teachers hate that) so that my arm isn't constantly crashing in to my body.

It makes me sad you missed your playtimes x

Is it OK if I post mine in a day or two? The photos are taken - it was a very enjoyable thing to do.

There's nothing wrong with this handwriting - I think you are suffering from a childhood scar - some things teachers say are not true but always stay with us. I remember a business with a Venn diagram and Mr Moore.

Thankyou SO much for suggesting this - it's such a fabulous idea. COuld we make it a regular thing?

I've really enjoyed this game, thanks for thinking of it! I've read a couple of posts - mines up, I just managed to fit it in while my parents went to the shops! - but I'm also enjoying the commenters' stories. Thanks!

Hi. I've just posted my handwritten blog so I hope you will add me to your list. I haven't had time yet to look at everyone else's, but look forward to doing so this evening. I'm wondering now, if my parents still have my schoolbooks in their loft...

This has been so much fun to do Jackie... and I don't think there is anything wrong with your handwriting.

I don't agree that your writing is 'dreadful' - I think it is very attractive and easy to read. I've just posted my bit.

Jackie, thanks for thinking up the handwriting challenge, it's been soooo interesting to see everyone's takes on handwriting versus the computer, the lovely memories of letters, opinions, schooldays... and everything else. Thanks a million!!
Best wishes
Dan

Hi Jackie, your handwritten memories take me right back and I can well remember the dip pen and good old Quink! I can also remember a permanent blue/black stained dent at the top of my right hand middle finger thanks to all that painstaking effort! Bfn, Lesley

Just did mine! You've quite a long list there now!

LOL :o) you are funny hee hee

(this is in reply to the comment you left on my textile blog by the way in case you were wondering what I'm on about!)

Both blogs are my main blogs but being a Gemini I typically have two sides to me (both nice of course)

Love Stitching Red is my whimsical rosy tinted view of life/general ramblings with art and crafts I make and homey stuff about the cottage and St. Ives from time to time

My textile blog is more mixed media textile art ... experiments, sketchbooks, art, etc.

I bet you're really glad you asked!!!!! Leave a comment on either if you wish ... dip in or out. Each has different followers LOL according to taste

I'm having an enforced but frustrating blog break. We are renovating but I find it hard to stay away, but havent had any time to create in the last three weeks and no time to blog

I did just want to blog my bundles in the Erosion Bundle Project though because everyone opened theirs on 15th April last week and I opened mine and wanted to keep up with everyone. Other than that, I haven't blogged much. The last two posts on RED are just about other people's giveaways so not really to comment on that but hop over to the other blogs and win some goodies!

Well, sorry I've rambled on a bit, but it was so nice of you to visit me today. I always love hearing from you

Have a fab weekend. I'm painting walls and putting up roller blinds tomorrow
