Back to the drawing board.

These are pictures of some of the 'drawing' I have been doing with my sewing machine on the pre-felts I made in the post before last.

I started with an illuminated 'a', its about the size of the palm of my hand.

Then I went on to do three more blue-green oval/leaf/almost fishy shapes.

When I put them together they make me think I'd like to do a full hanging composed of these.

But I can't stick to those colours forever, and had a go at at a couple of the pastel felt shapes I prepared.
There's a fishy one..

and there's not-a-fishy one

but when I put them next to each other they both looked a bit 'marine'.

In other areas I have failed again quite miserably. Remember this?
Well I've done it again.
The other night as I was nodding off to sleep I had a vague recollection that someone had given me some bulbs at Christmas; that, yes I had planted them and put them in a cold dark place, but rather like the squirrel who lost his nuts..I couldn't remember where, or who.
I searched the surrounding areas of possibility and finally remembered the coal shed.
Too late.

And I've just burnt the felt group cake for tomorrow.
'Sigh' I wish I was a bit more like the Delicious Miss Dahl.
But I'd have to say 'fyeed' and cyikking' and really...I.. can't.

Can't make another cake because we are having a meal for my youngest son's 25th Birthday.
I can't believe it.

Ohhhh, I do feel for you. Store bought cake to the rescue?
I do like the fish and the other looks like a conch shell. The blue and green are so my colours.

I love the pink fishy one, probably because I am a pisces - I absolutely love it.

If you have the high talent of artistic creativity that you do, then who cares about forgotten bulbs and burnt cakes? (And if it's any consolation, both of those things sound like something I would do, too.)

Beautiful work, Jackie... and Happy 25th to your son!

These are looking great and much as I like your usual colour palette, I have to say that I love the latest ones.

The latest felt shapes are gorgeous and I love the colours you have worked in. Sad about the cake but I bet Miss Dahl can't make felt and sew as well as you! At least your bulbs flowered even if you did forget to plant them and there's always next year.

I read that you had burned the cake and then I read that your husband was on the news...my first thought (totally irrational too) was that you husband was on the news BECAUSE of the burnt cake. Yep, I've had too much coffee today!
ps...like the latest colour combos!!

Your leaf shapes translate beautifully into fish.. love them.

The pink really pops after all the lovely blue/greens... in a nice way.

I make dopey mistakes all the time, too ... just this past weekend, I lost track of the flour count in my Easter cake... But these days, the only flaky maneuver that really makes me beat myself up is when I can't find checks (as in money!!!)...

Think I'm having a vague moment here Jackie. Are you saying you've failed again with your little pieces, as well as the cake and bulbs??
Cos I'm not seeing it!! It's all beautiful as usual. Those pastels really are lovely. One day I'm buying one of your lovelies, see if I don't!! :)) x

I agree ... a tree with all those lovely blue/green leaves would look amazing. They're brilliant enough on their own too.
Love the "a" .. are you contemplating a whole alphabet?
Shame about the cake, but think of the calories you saved.

Oh Jackie I did that with some Christmas present bulbs too. When people say 'put them away somewhere dark and forget about them' I'm afraid that's exactly what I do. If it's any consolation - mine look much worse than yours - no flowers at all.
Love the fish, by the way x
