Warning:May contain traces of dogs.

Many paws have passed through the pages of this blog in the three and a half years of its existence.
When we began I had my lovely constant companion, Willow, and we shared many walks with you.
I was distraught when she died.

Before Willow we had Daisy our first ever dog. Like Willow but with a black head. She was from the pre-digital era so I don't have any photographs on my Computer except  this one. Its not a success but it gives the idea and shows feline paws too.

And who could forgot Porky and Blodwen? We had them on various occasions.
They baffled Willow with their size, she didn't baffle them, they were oblivious...to many things!
Conveniently sink sized, and completely underwhelmed by great Art.

My son had a dog for a few years, the delightful Denny. Noisy and enthusiastic and very intelligent. She came to stay a few times causing the cats to run up impossibly high and unsuitable for climbing Leylandii trees next door.

Then we had a visit from Indie. She is a real treasure and so peaceful and gentle you could take her anywhere. So we did! Here she is cooling off in Bassenthwaite, after a visit to Woolfest.
Then we met Dylan, a little cutie being looked after by my friend, when we went away to the Lake district for my birthday last year.
Another one of Denise's charges came to us for a night,
Dexter.

When Willow died I thought I could never love another dog.
I didn't feel I could manage a pointer again and thought I'd just enjoy looking after other people's dogs.
Then a few weeks ago along came Missy.
When she went home after a week we missed her more than we had expected.
We felt ready for a dog again.
So we made a few enquiries.

and in two weeks and two days Hetty will be coming to live with us.

But Willow will always be there in the background to keep and eye on things.

Hetty looks beautiful. We have a friend with a minature schnauzer, who is very cute & comical. Hope Hetty brings you lots of joy. And no, we never forget our pets. Thanks for sharing these lovely pictures!

She looks beautiful and I hope you have lots of fun together - I bet you can't wait to bring her home. Hetty looks as though she is going be a real character and I am sure Willow would approve. We have a Golden Retriever and a Border Terrier and it has been fascinating seeing the different personalities together.

They come and go in our lives(what cruelty that they cannot live as long as we) and each take a piece of our heart when they leave.

I love the photograph of the dogs peeping over the sink, it's brilliant. A new puppy, she looks beautiful, and what a lovely name for her.

So glad to hear you are getting another dog - Hetty looks very sweet and I look forward to seeing how she grows and becomes a member of your family. One never forgets or replaces past dogs, just adds another individual to the line of wonderful canine friends who came before. May you have many happy Hetty years to come.

Ah! Lovely Hetty. She is going to bring you so many hugs, so many companionable nights snuggled on the sofa, watching movies. Good for you - there is nothing in the world like a good dog to make your whole body turn into happy, contented, wholeness.

I bet you cant wait, I know I spent our weeks holiday in France wishing the days away so I could get home to pick up Betsy. Every day her little character is growing she is so amusing, despite the early mornings (which I'm getting used to). She is such good company, and I really enjoy getting out for a walk with her every day.Hetty is a lovely name for a Mini Schnauzer, it really suits her!

Will you just LOOK at that little face! She looks adorable and is going to a very loving home. Wonderful news.

What a lovely doggy blog post Jackie. They all look adorable and Hetty will be no exception. Our ages deter us from getting another dog, much as we love them, so we 'borrow' other peoples or sneak a quick stroke and cuddle when one comes our way. You will love having Hetty and we look forward to hearing all about her.

Oh Jackie, I am so very happy for you! She is a cutie-pie, and you won't regret it. I still talk to Mo's photo every day, as I will truly miss her forever, and no one can ever take her place, just like no one will ever be able to take Willow's. However, I am very happy that I took a chance and adopted our Ellie. I feel that by caring for her, I am honoring Mo and all of my past dog loves. I think you will enjoy having a little dog! Ellie is about 30+ pounds lighter then Mo was, so I can scoop her up and carry her around, and what a great snuggler she is! A real comfort. With one child grown and on her own, and another approaching her 18th, a little dog is a fabulous place to put all that mama love, that otherwise wouldn't have an outlet! You are going to love it! Wishing you many, many, many happy years with your adorable little Missy! xo - Vic

Oh. My. Goodness! How cute is Hetty? I have discovered that if you are a pet lover, then you are always a pet lover and there is a hole in your world when you don't have a pet to fill it. They never replace the predecessor but create new love to enrich our lives. Enjoy!

Congrats on having Hetty coming to live with you.
We just had a new cat come and stay with us called Lola. She is 5, and her owner had allergy problems. It is working out very well.

After growing up with dogs, it took us far too long to realise we could have a dog all of our own. And while having the Whippet can sometimes be a pain in the whotsit, we just couldn't imagine life without him now. Hetty looks so lovely, I don't know how you can wait two weeks and two days!

Hi Jackie,
How lovely to see all your previous canine incumbents in one place!
And how cute is Hetty? What a sweetie!
I am so glad to hear that you are feeling ready for a new hound about the place, for me a mutt makes a house a home and I cannot bear to be without one. I'm very happy for you.
And yes - I also feel quite sure that Willow will be supervising from a higher plane, I know Bert was greatly influenced by Uncles Oliver, Charlie and Smudge!

What a wonderful discovery on a dark November morning. Am sipping my pre-dog walking coffee, so you'll have a bit of an understanding of my life!

How great to discover someone who loves dogs and textiles and isn't the internet such a wonderful place that I can discover you.

Hope Hetty is settling in.
