Thank you for all your encouragement with the last piece. Its given me a shove so here's the start of 'Noon a purple glow' with a seaweed feel I think.
I heard a recording of Yeats reading the poem where he says it refers to the glow of the heather in the water, well mine's the sea and not a lake, and its the purpleness of the Burren Limestone reflecting in the sea....so there!
Sorry about the blurry picture, its quicker to e mail it to myself from my iphone than sit and wait for iphoto to upload from my camera. I'm sure there's an easier way but I need to get a 'one to one' sorted out at the Apple store and I really don't fancy a trek into Manchester in this lovely weather.
Talking of which....
Yes there are parts of my garden which flourish because I leave them alone. I took the clippers to this lilac three years ago and its the first time its flowered since. But isn't it a beauty?

About 9 years ago we arrived in Paris in time for 1st May and were delighted to find the custom of carrying and giving Lilies of the Valley in little bunches.
Les Muguets also grow in my untended garden.
I have a National trust Lily of the Valley soap on my bedside table just for the scent.

OK, you have officially tortured me. My favorite flowers are lilacs and lily of the valley... I can just smell both of them! Neither grow where I am living now so Enjoy them for me. :-) I love you new pieces too but the flowers took front row....

Oh those gorgeous colours Jackie - I just love them. Your lilac too is beautiful - I must go a have a sniff of mine. Lovely stuff. I must also search for my lily of the valley which I planted last autumn and haven't seen since!
very seaweedy indeed though at first glance I thought they looked a bit like geckos. Love the picture of veils of the morning which made me think of a shoal of tiny shiny whitebait that swam all around our feet one summer.

It just won't thrive in my chalky soil, but it grew all along my grandparents' cottage. I can smell it now.
Yes I noticed lily of the valley in a particular bouquet this past few days. It was wonderful to see all that happiness. Also the lilacs remind me of good childhood memories, glad you haven't been chopping on that bush these past couple of years.

I love lily of the valley - especially the scent - I can never get it to grow...fancy meeting up in the holidays - we are in manchester for an interview on the 31st May....

I have the same lilac - chosen for its wonderful rich color - and she is certainly a prima donna. Last year I gave her the most judicious trim and this year she sulked and produced only one panicle! :-0
