Tweed Ecstasy

The tip of the tweed iceberg that has to be made fairly soon.

Well, you may know that I luuuurve Harris Tweed.
I love the speckledy yarns and the beeee-oooo-teee-ful combinations of colours.
But best of all I love to choose  bits of velvet to go with those colours.
I dyed some greys when I had my mammoth dyeing day and they are perfect to compliment these tweeds.

You can't go wrong with aqua and amber,

or amber and ochre and olive....ooohhhh loving all these colour names!
Then there's the blues ...

the royal in the middle is much richer-than-the-picher...er....Picture.

I bought this olive and royal tweed from the shed at Tarbert and as I was buying it I could just see it with olive velvet.

Yum yum yum yum yum yum..more grey and ochre....

.....some brights.....
...........some brighters........

and pinks, which don't photograph well at all and thats a shame because they are gorgeous.
65 Harris Tweed Brooches.
Only another eleventy gazillion to make!

And finally a gratuitous picture of Blodwyn who has gone home.
I have learnt from the previous post, putting a little dog on the blog gets me lots of comments.
Thank you so much for them.
If she gets that many comments with a coat on, lets see how many she gets...

...naked.

Oh - Blodwyn is so pretty. I just want to pick her up and cuddle her. All those gorgeous brooches - you have been (and still are!) busy. I love the ones with frayed edges and the colour combinations are fantastic. No wonder you love making them.

Well here's anothe comment for Blodwyn! Though I would have had to comment even had she not been there as those tweed and velvet art works are stunning - love them and am reminded of my childhood when a tweed coat with a velvet collar was de rigeur! Love those brights though and we didn't have those combinations of colours back then!

You my love are seriously bonkers- but you do amazing things with felt and tweed, so I'll ignore the dog nudity and keep coming back for more! xxx

What can I say - beautiful, beautiful, beautiful xxxx

Hey Blodwyn should meet up with Archie, they are two little cuties.

I must own one of your brooches but I can't decide which style to pick. Perhaps one for each coat - and then buy some more coats so I can get some more brooches! What do you think xxxx

I wish I had a Harris tweed jacket in some of the fabrics that you have used ... Must catch up soon... Lots of love to you ... H

Ooh Jackie, yummy brooches as always. They remind me of a little tweed coat I had when I was about 5 years old, which had a velvet collar and pockets.Thought I was the bees knees! Love to Blodwyn.

Such gorgeous colours - and to think some people think tweed is dull! Just shows how wrong they can be. . .

Bloody nora. Those blues!

You cheeky minx. You are trying to burgle comments with the blatant use of a sausage dog.

You talk about ecstasy with tweed - imagine how WE feel just looking at them! mmmmmmmmmmmm!

I had to avert my eyes initially when I saw Blodwyn naked! But decided to get over my shock of seeing her without her coat and have decided she is gorgeous with - or -without coat :)
And your tweed and velvet brooches are beautiful. Love all of them but think the pink ones are my favorite.
And I agree with lilylovekin - you are the queen of tweed!

Jackie--You are shameless, resorting to nudity on a 'family-friendly-blog'!!
(What a cutie Blodwyn is, though!!)
I love your new tweed brooches and I would have SO enjoyed watching you dye those large pieces of velvet!! (I have so much to learn about dyeing!!)

Gosh, having read Marigold Jam's comment, I realise I had forgotten about the tweed coat with velvet collar I had worn as a child! Lovely work Jackie, and I am sure we will all forgive you resorting to puppy porn! :O))))

What I LOVE about visiting your blog is the feast of colour (not to mention texture), from subtle earth tones to an explosion of PINK (my favourite). I used to find it disheartening when I had to make lots of something for an order, and perhaps you do too?

PS Dog is quite cute too ... but gimme the tweeds and velvets every time!

Haha I love your post - your crafty bits, the doggy - great!

Thanks for your comment on my last post - the sofa is gorgeous looking, but not gorgeous to sit in at all, that´s why it ended up in the shop, lol. Good for a short rest, but not for a comfy evening in front of the telly!

Take care, Kirsten

Grey is such an under-rated color...there are so many subtleties to it. I love it!

p.s. your piece should be arriving from Tn this evening...I called home and asked Charlie to bring it up when he returned! I'm excited to see it in person!
