Reading around the bloggisphere I often come across posts about holidays and have come to understand that the sensitive souls of the textile world love nothing better than to holiday in the wilder remote places far from the madding crowd.
So when a friend of mine alerted me to the fact that she has just made her Scottish House available for holiday lets I offered to share this information.
Here it is....
..on the Isle of Lewis no less.
I can't wait to get there but unfortunately can't for a while.
So at the risk of getting the place booked up I thought I'd show you and I'm sure some people out there will be booking their slot immediately.
I mean..Lewis.
Thats HARRIS and Lewis and you know what they make there don't you?
If you would like to see more visit their lovely website.
Jools is exhausted after his contribution to the world of blog.
I have been very uninspired lately but been fiddling around with more hearts and other shapes.
What do you think?
Yesterday, for my husbands birthday, we went to a place where they have a crafty way of making three slices of bread look stupendous...
Where they have portraits of vegetables on the walls,
and the food is superb.
5 of the 6 members of our party were fulsome in their praise.
My younger son enjoyed his food but he didn't rate the board it came on and asked for a plate, and his comments about the establishments attitude to itself are unprintable.
Mug giveaway closes on Wednesday night, click on the mugs at the top right, to take you to the post where you need to leave a comment to be included the draw.

Ooh, I knew where you had been from the first shot of the bread! Very envious. We love all those pubs and visit at every opportunity although I must say I would tend to agree with your son just everso slightly... Have you tried the treacle ribs with black peas... mmmmmmm...
o i love the new pieces!! wonderful!
i love the hearts, they will be great for valentine's day! thanks for sharing about scotland, I wish I could make a trip over there! I would love to go!!!
have a good one!
...BrittanButterfly...
The holiday house and location look beautiful. Jules is very chilled out - he should give relaxation classes! I am just coming out of a period of non-inspiration and blame it on the time of year. Love the new brooch designs. Belated Happy Birthday to your husband - the lunch sounds great. As for your son's unprintable comments - boy's will be boys.
Ooo! Jackie im so jealous. I would love to be there. The new shapes are wonderful - as per usual!
What a lucky hubby!!
I think its the time of year too, somehow your brain goes into hibernation and the bits you need for inspiration refuse to budge. Personally I like sinuous curvy shapes so think the heart is fab (not to mention loving pink)!
Happy birthday to your husband. What a lovely place to spend the holidays and it says you can see the northern lights from there that would be really great.
love the new pieces - my favourite place for food up your way is The Emporium - plus I like a nosy round downstairs!
I would give up a child to go to Lewis. It's a dream of mine. I keep saying maybe next year we will travel but these kids keep spending all our money! I like the second heart best but they are all beautiful! And Happy Birthday to your Sweetie!
Wonder if I could leave me job for a month or two and go live in solitude to work and smell the fresh salt air. Aaahhhhhhhhhhhh
Love the new pieces, too.
I am a complete bread junkie! and dang...I wish I could take a holiday. And that second heart is my favorite (if you wanted an answer) - it's so pretty.
...puss looks much friendlier in this post...we are going to Skye at Easter and I am hoping we will be able to have a day in Lewis...perhaps I could persuade my friend to make another bag for me...I use them every day now...hope you are well my friend...love and hugs H
I like your new brooches Jackie, especially the deep, dark red heart with dark grey trim, very nice. Lesley
I've bookmarked the cottage for future reference. It might even get me up into a plane! If only I'd seen it before I'd booked a holiday to St Ives (again!)
I love the pieces you've been playing with. I'm sure it's the winter fug that's getting us all down.
Hi Jacky,
I love your new brooch shapes.x
I would love to stay there, but will have to win the lottery first! Your hearts are lovely and I justknow they are full of texture...yum.
The hearts are lovely Jackie... but then they wouldn't be anything else! I could do with a week on Lewis right now....
Maybe your friend would like a 'swap'!!
Birthday meal looks wonderful..what did you eat??
Hearts= beautiful!
you are so talented. i stumbled on your blog from someone. great colors and lines and shapes. in this post i especially love that squarish shape that is pink with the lines coming out of it.
and the scottish house looks awesome, all sitting there on that shore like that. isnt the isle of lewis where the lewis chessmen came from? i saw those in the british museum at one point and became so enchanted with them because of their hilarious facial expressions!!
Hi Jackie
A Scottish bolt hole...peace and tranquility....bliss.
Desirable new brooches, love them all.
berickswThanks for your comment Jackie, living on Skye is a dream come true & Lewis is on my list - out of 800 islands we've visited...8! Boys will be boys, doncha just love 'em! (middlest is called Billy...)Your shapes are beautiful & inspiring, have you looked closely at lichen, amazing colors? Living here it's the time of year to hibernate inside the stacks of inspiring books we all have, sitting by the fire with the storms raging around you glancing up at the wind whipped waves crashing against the rocks... Actually it's glorious sunshine out of my window to the SW but a snow shower is coming across the bay from the North...sorry I do go on!
Your new brooches are fabulous as always! Jools looks so happy there, wish I could curl up beside him. You must try and visit Harris sometime, you would love it. Tweed, crafts, great beaches, peace and quiet....
love the black and red, and that cottage in scotland, i would live in.
The setting looks idyllic. If it were closer I would be there in a heartbeat. Love that last heart the most. Really gorgeous!
Ooh Jackie I am drooling. My husband and I had a wonderful few days holidaying on Harris in 1990 and I would so love to go back to anywhere in the Outer Hebrides - you really need to go there for your work don't you? The new brooches look fantastic, I am glad you are not feeling so uninspired any more. Cheers, Robin
