Assembling?

This is not a real blog post.
Just popping in to make an announcement.

A few months ago I bought a return rail ticket to London for the Knitting and Stitching Show with a friend, so on Friday we will be making a very early start for our big day out.
(Think Country Mice)
I've never been to Alexandra Palace before and I don't know how feasible it is to arrange meetings , or where would be a good place, but it would be lovely to meet you if you are going to be there on Friday. I think the afternoon would be better than morning, or perhaps lunchtime if there is such a place as where ones own comestibles may be ...comested(?)
Perhaps those of you who know it better will be able to advise.
I would also like advice about a nice place to eat between there and Euston in the evening, Our train leaves at 8.30 pm so we have 3 hours to dine and travel and its Friday....
When I say 'nice' I mean reasonably inexpensive, quick but not 'fast' and a bit more interesting than we get at home.
I am not averse to a chain such as Carluccio's or is there one called something to do with kebabs? Shish or something? I'm willing to try anythings except eels...

Thank you thank you thank you thank you everyone who sent me lovely messages during my break.
The support and good wishes I've had really mean a lot to me. I feel I have dear friends and confidantes all over the world.
I may well be back to my blog shortly.
I don't think I'll be able to resist a review of the K&S if all goes well.

I'll leave you with a picture of an experimental 'Woodland' cuff, which I made at a particularly trembly and emotional moment from the last week and which is, as I type , winging its way to its new home after a very brief appearance on ETSY.
(Thank you fp)

Ahhh shame I am going on Saturday. You could easily walk up to Muswell Hill from Ally Pally - there are lots of ideal eateries up there and it's pleasant!

Good to hear from you again and hope you have a great day out in London. Can't help with any advice as it's so long since I've been that I couldn't find my own way around any more. It would be lovely to meet you and say hello, and I would love to go to Ally Pally myself but I know I'd never last the day. I shall look forward to hearing all about it from you!The cuff is beautiful.

Hi Jackie,
There are two bars/restaurants where you can purchase food inside the halls - the Roman Bar and the Panorama restaurant but there is usually also a picnic area at the back of the great hall. I'm seeing another couple of friends over lunch but I'm never adverse to an afternoon cuppa! I'll email you my mobile number. Can't help with a restaurant on the way to Euston although St Pancras is worth a visit and has some nice eateries. I'm partial to the champagne bar myself ;)

Hi Jackie
Lovely to read a post from you (even if you say it's not a real post!). Hope you have a lovely time at the Knitting and Stitching show in London on Friday. Wish I could join you for a cuppa.
Can understand someone buying your lovely Woodland cuff. It is beautiful and even more so because it was created when you were feeling emotional. I know I find that the art I create when I am going through a hard time has a extra depth to it.
Sending much love to you and a extra hug for good measure.
Dot xx

I recommend some of the Gujarati bhelpoori restaurants on Drummond Street, just behind Euston station. Delicious food, reasonably priced.

So glad to hear from you. On going to Ally Pally, I would say you will have a great time. On eating nearby, avoid Wood Green like the plague - it's awful on Friday night from about 6 pm onward. If you like good kebabs, grab a cab and head down to Green Lanes (a bit south of Ally Pally and between it and Euston) where you will find a sort of mini-Turkey with lots of Turkish restaurants so the competition is great. Have you ever tried lahmajun? I recommend them.

Hope you and yours are well.

Jackie said...

Thank you for all your helpful comments.
I'd like to try that Ruth ..I wonder if we'll be brave enough to try? thanks for the tip about Wood Green.

Good to see you here. Sounds like you have lots of suggestions for dinner, but if you wanted a coffee before you get there I'd recommend The Handbag Cafe, 8 Crescent Road, Alexandra Palace, London, N22
A good coffee, a slice of homemade cake and loads of vintage bags to look at. I'm working on ArtVanGo's stand on Thurs and Sat but will be there as a 'shopper/looker' on Fri so if you fancy meeting for coffee let me know. I'll email my mobile. Could maybe meet up with Gina (Fan My Flame) my C&G tutor too. If not, enjoy your day. x
