Cycle

How things change.
Two months ago I was 'home alone', missing my husband, missing having a dog, feeling lonely.
Now my husband has finished working away for a while so we have enjoyed each other's company.
Then we offered to have our friends' dog and we are enjoying that but they will be collecting her on Monday.
And now...
again...
One of our sons has arrived home unexpectedly with all his belongings.

So, while I am happy he is here for a short time, it has its own problems but at least its made us address the 'spare room' issue!
So, stay calm, green is the colour of calm and rest
..

Aaaah. Thats better.
Now, the delightful Viv of Hens Teeth is kindly selling some brooches for me so when I made a batch and sent her some I kept some.
I suppose Harris Tweed is a bit unseasonable but I have listed a couple in my Etsy shop.

More greeeeeeeen.

Its a pity that the camera picks up the light on the surface of the tweed because its so much softer and warmer looking in reality.

Then there's the pink. Yummy.

I did a silly thing and bought some purse frames on ebay. But they were not the right kind for a beginner and I don't know how to stick the fabric in as they don't have a continuous groove all the way round.Any ideas anyone?

I'm off to take Indi for a walk.
She's lovely dog and she and the cats have reached, shall we say..an understanding?

I wonder if we ever get to the point where we stop worrying about our kids. Our #1 son has lived in some real holes that just plain gave me the creeps. To his credit tho' he has never wanted to come back home. I guess a hole is better than home!

Our house if filling back up again at the moment too. I can't keep up with it all. But it's lovely having them home isn't it? And such a joy that they want to come back.

Keep thinking green and calm Jackie. I hope you are lucky with your sales. Fingers crossed having your son home works out and hopefully he'll find some better accommodation before too long. My friend's daughter is about to come back home bringing a newborn baby with her!

Did I ever tell you I just love what you do with velvet? Well, I do...and the tweed plays off the velvet so well. Hope all goes well with extended family again....Life is just one adventure after another, isn't it?

Glad he got out of there, it sounds horrendous. Pity the tweed doesn't show soft in the photos as I know from personal experience just how well it goes with the velvet. Good luck with the new outlet.

Your son's accommodation sounds horrendous. Poor chap - hope he finds somewhere suitable soon. Gorgeous brooches - I saw more of your lovely work today at the Textile Fair in Chipping Sodbury. I have just handed my borrowed dog back to her owners and will borrow her again next week. She's no trouble and knows that our cat is the boss!!

Poor you. My daughter came back home with her boys for a short time. I think its gonna be forever. But he's better with you. Safe. Its grown into a strange world.

It sounds as though your son is in the best place now he's home... just keep that calm feeling. I've only tried one of those purse frames once and it involved a kebab stick and glue... bit fiddly!

It's good to know that however big they get, they will always come home to mum when in need - I hope mine do too - it feels good to be needed? lovely new work - I like the pink one. Betty x

Perhaps this is how the generation between the baby boomers and generation X are destined to live - that is - to have grown up children at home, when you should be pottering about doing your own thing! But our parents just hit lucky, this is how things are now. How wonderful that big brother was willing and able to lend a hand. I hope you will be able to claim your own space for creating, as I do love your work - (I first saw the blog thanks to Dorset Cerals) You never know you may get some help with the washing up!!!!

Keep calm and carry on as they say! We have no 2 son bounce back home for a year which is lovely but... I know what you mean. Yummy brooches which would go down a storm up here. Your green bowl of fruit has calmed me down for the frantic day I have ahead of me.

Looks like your son has bought lots of ' stuff' back with him Jackie! And you have a full house again with your husband being back and your friend's dog coming to stay.
Love your brooches as always.

Know what you mean about storing the offspring's belongings. We had a garage full of DD's stuff when she moved back with us...then when she moved out again she only took about a third of it with her!
She suggests we do a car boot sale.......
