Woolly Love

Forgive me for this self indulgent post.
Perhaps if you are not a felt maker or wool lover you won't enjoy it.
I've been making felt for future shapes and brooches.
I have to think of colours and combinations that I wouldn't normally use so I put a few things together and got this.

Thinking outside of my colour comfort zone where I usually end up with duck egg and greys I stuck a few dark colours in. A navy and a maroon and hey presto!
The 1950s appeared.
So I went on and made another because I didn't want to cut the first one up..but it was different again.

I love the unexpectedness of felt.
The way you put two colours on top of each other and get deliciousness.

even where you weren't expecting it.

This could be the centre of a brooch.

There's a bit of silk in here, the blue thats brighter than the rest. Its almost iridescent.

It scares me a bit...I can't predict it and I want to control it...frustration ensues.

I could stare at it for hours ....which is how long it will take it to dry in this weather.

Gorgeous, gorgeous felts. I love felt but am hopeless at making it. I either get it uneven with thin patches or thick enough to sole shoes! So I leave it to the experts like you. I can't wait to see what you do with these lovely pieces, when you can bear to cut them up.

Lovely colours Jackie, I love felt....and would have trouble putting scissors into this....I think I would like to keep it and just stroke it!

It's beautiful - don't try to control it as it works wonderfully as it is! I love it and am inspired to have a go again myself.

Magic! The funny thing is that your work and oclors loobk like you had control over every little bit! Perhaps it's est as it is - some planning, some random, but it's all good because you have the eye to use it well!

Boy I sure know how you feel. Sometimes I dye fabrics I don't really care for until I iron and start exploring all the facets. Then I just fall in love again and again.

Gosh, those colours are beautiful and so tactile! Will have to try this sometime.

You should sell pieces of these Jackie, they are gorgeous and bloomin' hard work to make too.

There is something very comforting about the surface of the felt and the colours. Beautiful!

Oh, someone who rhapsodises about wool like me!! People think I am a little kooky for working with wool in the summer, but I am building up stock for winter when I will need finished items. I love the way wool blends, how it feels on my skin, the luster or wool and silk blends. I have been felting for five years now and I love it!!

See how inspired everyone is by your beautiful felt - somehow the colours work, whatever the blend. They are definitely gorgeous.

Jackie - glad to see you are felting so much lately!
I know how you feel about being reluctant to cut them up. I remember cutting up a felt scarf that wouldn't sell and made 7 little dolls instead - which sold instantly! So get brave and get cutting!

It is hard to cut up a lovely piece of felt, but you'll do something with it to make it even lovelier.

Oh it's gorgeous - how exciting waiting to see what happens! But I understand the frustration at not being able to control it too ... am a bit like that myself!!

I love felt, I love making it, i have so much fun playing round with colours, no much time for playing at the moment too busy getting ready for the move packing boxes of things i hide from DH, he thinks i have too much craft 'stuff' and should rationalise HA!!

It looks wonderful...I once made some felt slippers, I never wore them because I loved them so much...I am still waiting with baithed breath for the tweed purses.

Well ms. woolly love. "I'm feelin it." ...and it makes me think of Forrest Gump's box of chocolates - You never know what your gonna get.

Sometimes it takes your lead turning out as you image, but more often it teaches you a thing or two. Surprise.
