To those of you who read the previous post (which I have deleted,) and commented, thank you for your help.
Ruth, Dot, Marylin and Jude, and Elaine, (there... I've given you all a link)I have discovered the problem and with your help the person concerned has sorted it out.
To those of you who are puzzled, I would just say that if links to my blog appear at the bottom of your comments list, its you who have to 'un -allow backlinks'.
I didn't put the links there, blogger apparently does it automatically.
This led to a misunderstanding and its irksome that I have had to use up blog space to sort it out.
I don't like to leave comments on my own blog but I thought I would include this snippet from the one Elaine left on the deletd post which explains it all.If you are getting loads of unwanted links then read this.
ReplyDeleteShe says:
'I think their problem might be in their own settings & not understanding 'Backlinks'. As I understand it, the 'Backlinks' feature shows links TO your blog (and creates a new link back to where that link is). If you click YOUR settings to not allow backlinks, that will stop the links to YOUR blog being shown on YOUR blog. So if this person doesn't want these links showing up on their blog, THEY have to change THEIR settings.
'I think when you set up automatic feeds, as you have done under 'MY BLOG LIST' that will be picked up as a Backlink in whichever posts are currently showing (presumably just the latest one).'
Glad it has all been sorted out Jackie.
ReplyDeleteAm thinking of you today as I am wearing the gorgeous green cuff I bought from you recently. Have already had lots of comments on it :)
Big hugs
Dot xx
Bloody Blogger! Bloody Stupid People! Forget it now :-)

Thanks Jackie - I'd been wondering what these were all about and how they got there being somewhat computer illiterate... now I know and can do something about it!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so today I've learned something....
ReplyDeleteI think you know what I'd like to say...
It's sad the things that people will freak about and then leave nasty notes to someone about. Erks me. You know in the big scheme of things is a backlink really that big of a deal that we need to be nasty to someone instead of just asking for assistance? people can sure make me crazy. Forget about it Jackie. People like that don't deserve your sweet friendly comments.
ReplyDeleteI think my Girlie bird has fallen in love with your green one. So have I.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got my comment last night. I spent ages writing it and then Blogger died on me and all I got were error messages. The same thing happened, the first time I tried to post this comment.
ReplyDeleteTechnology, eh?
Glad it got straightened out. It seems a bit silly to get your panties in a wad about a link. All it does is get more people to look at your site, which I would think would be the idea but...
ReplyDeleteLove your birds!
