Comments and some circles.

This isn't really a well thought out carefully worded and illustrated post. Its just a thank you message and a gratuitous picture of a card I made.
I haven't really got the hang of replying to comments.
Do I reply here on my blog or is it more polite to visit the commenters blog?
What if they don't have a blog?
Sometimes comments come with just a name attached and my failing 56-almost-57 years old brain can't always connect the name to a person.
So this is an apology to those whose comments I appear to have ignored, but haven't. Thank you to all those who have put a link on their blog. If I haven't done the same, its bad management, not bad manners, and very big thank you for all the lovely comments I've had.
They make my day.
I thrive on them.
If you blog, you'll understand.

  1. I wondered the same thing about comments.

  2. If the comment is a question, you can answer it in your next post. If you can't find an email address for the person in their "profile", just add a comment to that entry they commented on to thank them. And you're not obligated to reply, especially if you're busy :}

  3. I have a similar problem regarding comments on my blog. I like Arlee's solution. I was just pointed to your blog by Jude at Spritquest. I love what you're doing! Marjorie

  4. There is no real ettiquette to the comments i don't think, people do wat they feel and what they have time for more importantly. I try to reply when I can, but otherwise in a post or in the comment section is fine I think. If someone doesn't have their email showing, because that is the reason they have chosen not to show their email, then I think it is their tough luck! A real jewel again today!

  5. I know just what you mean about responding to people's comments! I sometimes don't have time to visit everyone who has visited me - and then I feel kinda bad about it.

    Your stitching image today is lovely!

  8. Hello! found you via spirit cloth - I have the same problem with comments. I was emailing everyone with followup in the begining but it got too much, so I tend to go to the other persons blog and comment on their post to say thanks (good way to discover new blogs too). if they ask a specific question Ill email, and/or answer it in my next post. I have found (after almost 6 months of blogging) that the majority of comments are from a smallish group of people - all who have blogs i read and comment on, so its become less of an issue for me. I have however given up commenting on, or linking to some blogs - i used to comment quite regularly, and never had any acknowledgment - answer to a question, comment on my own blog, etc - and it felt like a rebuff - i felt the person wasnt interested in a 'relationship' and I left it alone. looking forward to following your blog

  10. I've come here via the Jude's Spirit Cloth too, and I'm glad I did. Love your stitchery and will come again to see what you are doing. If people leave comments I try and reply on their blog, or mention them on mine, but sometimes time is short, and not everyone shows an email address. I removed mine because of receiving so much spam. However, I really appreciate those who visit -it is gratifying to know what one writes/makes is of interest to others. Sue

I love to hear from anyone who reads..so go on...leave one!
I apologise for not being able to reply to all of them. It makes it harder if you are 'no reply', but I do value each comment.
