Pile up

Its 10 past nine on thursday night.
There's no getting round it..it has to be done.
I've put it off since September.
Its the IRONING
A huge great mountain that became a roomful.
I have decided to bring it all downstairs, put the telly on and iron.
Its not as if I am particularly well groomed or smartly turned out . I just have a lot of tee shirts from my hot flush days.

I have been wondering whether to show you this.
Go on then.
Picture 5.
Me sewing behind my stall.
I am shocked that in the picture my mouth bears a strong resemblance to Wallace when he says 'No Crackers Gromit' and my hands look like hams. And in general I look like the sort of anonymous 'lady' mentioned.
I'm sorry your dreams of a tall elegant stylish dogdaisy are now in pieces.
I felt quite old and untrendy that day but still enjoyed it.

Back to the pile up.
As I carried the pile downstairs I gathered other piles of washing from around the house, it was like a huge juggernaut progressing towards the ironing board and it now sits next to me as I procrastinate further.
I am not going to bed till its done.
As I stepped off the bottom step into the hall I realise that the piece of burnt toast I had given to Willow had at that very moment been dropped on the hall floor just where I was about to put my foot.
Oh Joy.

  1. You are so like me ... I'm my own worst critic. You look great. Your booth looks great. And I hate to iron. I find that wine always helps! :O)

  3. Now, you see, because of what you said I had to go back and emlarge what looked like a perfectly lovely photo to get a proper look at you :o) You look lovely to me too and the stand looked great. I hate having my pic taken too - no chin, too many chins, horrible sticky out teeth, grey hair, big ears, the list goes on.......
Ironing? What's ironing? Oh yeah, it's that thing you do with Bondaweb! lol

  4. I did the same thing as Julie. After what you said, I had to go back and enlarge. No surprises, other than your work. I absolutely love your style.

  6. Oh you look lovely! I never iron - well occasionally a shirt for Matt but that's it. We have a pile in the dining room that is now covered in dust from the plumbers - oh well!

  7. If your hands are hams how do you manage to hold a needle? You look like a lovely 'lady' (as always).
I'm so with you on the ironing thing. Have quite a small amount for me - just one tettering basketful but that's only cuz both clothes airers are full as are the two washing baskets!! I'm in denial at the moment. It's not there.

  8. Your stand - and you! - look great. I so wish I could have been there. Having just put a pile of washing in the washer I realise that my solution to the ironing problem has been - don't wash it in the first place. But here it all comes ... Will mail you.

  9. Have you been to bed yet? :-D

I don't mind ironing too much - there are worse things, like cleaning.

You so do NOT look like Wallace - or indeed Gromit. You look fab. I don't know why, but I didn't picture you as a blonde. Now I know better.

  10. Why do you think I don't use a real photo of me? I don't really look like this -> You look much better than me!

I recommend my son's approach to ironing - if customers are coming in you iron the shirt properly.

If it's only the boss you iron the front and the collar.

Otherwise you put the shirt on damp.

[He has since discovered a fourth solution - you wear the firm's poloshirts that don't need ironing.]

And be grateful it was only toast - do you know what a cat can leave you to tread on - usually with bare feet ...

  11. The lady in the photo looks rather glam to me. Much smarter than I look at a fair. Your stall looks wonderful too. Sheesh, I only iron when I need to. Judicious folding soon after the tumbler has done its work usually makes things passable. Then it's as and when. Emma x

  12. That's a lovely picture, you're much too harsh on yourself. The stall looks wonderful :)

  14. You look lovely in the photo!! I wonder why we are the worst enemies of ourselves? mad! I always criticise myself, even when it's unnecessary. even more mad!

and I join in the chorus of: "What's ironing???" I never do ironing, and if Mr. P needs a shirt ironed for a meeting he's able to do it himself... splendid :)

    muchos xmas hugs!

I apologise for not being able to reply to all of them. It makes it harder if you are 'no reply', but I do value each comment.
