Fish and Fowl: or the fun that can be had with silk paper

Work with silk paper..old., originally uploaded by dogdaisy92.

The first time I ever made silk paper I stitched on it till I had this, loosely based on this early greek Vase Painting

You may notice that I was impatient for a particular piece of white to dry, so I put it on the plate warmer on my cooker. It burnt, but acquired a pleasing golden glow. (The plate warmer acquired a displeasing plastic blob.)

  1. This is such a lovely piece. My favorite part is the three smaller square elements over on the right side.

  5. Love your pieces, can see this is going to be a must read blog for me! How did you do the turquiose in the middle, is it fibre or did you colour up after the silk paper was made???

  6. Thank you for comments everyone. Carol I used coloured silk papers, and I think the bit you mean might be the little squares of dyed velvet I've applied. Let me know if its not.

I apologise for not being able to reply to all of them. It makes it harder if you are 'no reply', but I do value each comment.
