Two tours

Yesterday we had the preview of our Exhibition at Astley Hall Coach House Gallery, Chorley.
A beautiful space. We each introduced our work with a few words and had a fun time with our invited guests.  Here's my corner.
In this picture from Left to right, Jenni Ripley (3pieces) Elizabeth Rayton (5) then two and a half of Mary Holden's
 Mary's full works here,
Brenda Smales' work then around the corner to
 Gill Yates' print based works,
Here's the showcase..in bad need of a re-organise which I'll do some time soon.

On to the retrospective section..more of Elizabeth's,
 Yvonne Downing,
my work to the left and Gill's work to the right.
Margaret Kay's 'Pool at Le Jardin Majorelle'.
I've missed a few but I'll get them on another day.
Here's a long view of the whole space.
Me again
and I hope you'll forgive this one. Its all part of trying to be less self conscious..and makes me realise I haven't lost as much weight as I thought!
It also looks stiff because my husband takes so long to take a picture I'd got a bit tired of smiling.
Now a tour of last weekend when we should have been in Paris. We couldn't go, but look at these pictures.
I know where I'd rather be?

Lunch at Chesters by the River at Skelwith Bridge.
then we drove to Elterwater village and walked back towards Skelwith Bridge along the river.
Just enjoy, especially the Herdys under the trees.

Update: Just watched' Countryfile' on BBC and there was an item on Herdwick sheep. Farmers lose 70p per sheep on the fleece. It costs more to shear them than they can sell them for, so they may be a sight which will disappear.
Beatrix Potter was a great champion of the Herdwick.
The doors to the workshop at the Lakeland slate company.

Then home via the Windermere ferry
 past Belle Isle.
Better than Paris.

Your exhibition is bound to be a success - I would love to see it for myself. Such a beautiful gallery and so many wonderful exhibits - those who do get there are in for a treat. Your weekend pics are gorgeous - far more peaceful than Paris, beautiful, easier to get to and get home from!! By the way, inspite of looking rather serious, that is a very nice photo of you.

Your exhibition looks fabulous, what a great exhibiting space and so light! Well done for your photograph. My DH takes ages to take a pic too and it's hard to keep the smile in place :-) Your stay at home weekend looks perfect.

MUCH better than Paris - we lived up there for 18 years so I know how lovely it is. Herdwicks are my favourite too - love those sturdy legs! The exhibition looks beautiful and so do you.

Thanks for the trip around the exhibition Jackie. I did look how far it was but decided that it was just a bit too much for a day out. I'm sure that everyone who visits will be delighted.
Definitely a better place for a weekend than Paris, especially at the time of the year, but such a shame about the Herdwicks.
Your photo is just fine, even without your lovely smile. I run a mile if anyone tries to set me up in a posed shot.

All looking wonderful at the exhibition. I saw the article about the sheep on Countryfile and thought they looked amazing, but what a shame re the shearing costs!

Thanks for the exhibition tour--just really great work all the way around. Congratulations! As it's over 100 F. today and I'm nearly hugging the AC, you allowed me to get "out". By the way, you look great. My mom was somewhat anorexic and ended up with osteoporosis, and one day I just quit thinking about weight--big waste of time that makes us feel bad. The important thing is to eat correctly and feel good, right? Anyway, I'm going to now pick up my needle for some appliqué and hope that I won't work up a sweat.
best, nadia

The exhibition looks great! I do hope we can get to it. It is worrying about the Herdwicks but unless we're prepared to buy British wool products there just won't be a demand - though I think they are bred primarily for meat. I bought some herdwick washed fleece last month to try with a drop spindle - hairy string would be the kindest description of the result (not sure whether it will felt). That said, the carpets I've seen made from it are fantastic and it's also being marketed as green loft insulation and soil conditioner.
