Lovely June

Isn't it wonderful in June when the weather is like this? Everything is flourishing and the fields are a joy.
The trees stand knee deep in grass.

We really haven't had this sort of a June for two years.
Its not too hot but sunny enough to walk about outside, leave the door open and take a drink outside and sit.

You know if you have been reading this blog for a while that I have garden failures, but we actually have a few flowers this year. I don't know if I dare say this out loud but it may be that a garden without a dog succeeds as a garden more easily than one with.(But of course its a bit empty otherwise).
Because the sun is shining I am noticing the things that come up every year.

This close up reminds me of my spiky brooches.

Or  little starfish.

Can you tell what it is yet?

Lovely no-fuss annual display. It smells of apples. I have never noticed this before.
Viewed closely its like lace.
Climbing hydrangea.
Here's another kind of lace....

Oh dear....
Isn't it a shame the days fly by? Is it because I'm getting older?

Its Woolfest on Friday and Saturday and I sent my two vessels and some brooches.
Do you remember the 'bleurrgh' vessel?

It now has a shape change and applique..

and a title

I left the plain one plain.

It also has a title:   '...peace comes dropping slow..'
They are lines from the poem by Yeats 'The Lake Isle of Innisfree'.
They are inspired by my visit to the west of Ireland in March where I was filled with the peace and the beauty of the Burren. I hope I have captured the colours and the atmosphere in these two vessels.
Perhaps you will see me or them at Woolfest on the IFA stand.

Is that a climbing hydrangea? It's lovely, whatever it may be. I can just imagine the delightful smell of apples!

Love your woolen vases!

Looks like your garden is doing beautifully. Unfortunately mine has ground to a halt because next door have the builders in, which has necessitated taking down the fence between our gardens, so there are builders all over the place.

I love those vessels. x

Your rescued pot looks fantastic Jackie! I think June is my favourite month. After four years of living here I realise that this is the month when everything is at it's peak and you are right, this is the loveliest June we have had in a while. I took my sewing machine outside yesterday and tried my hardest to avoid housework and just be out there all day. I even put the tent up and watched the sun go down with my daughter (she was meant to be sleeping but hey she's 5 and has other ideas!)

The vessels are , well done on the rescue :o) Beautiful flowers too, so delicate. Have a good time at Woolfest! Our garden looks better this year than other years, I think that's because I've been trying to plant more perennials and not bothered with annuals this year except for a very few.

June is wonderful when the weather is kind.
You can eat in the garden with no wasps!
The fields around us are full of wild flowers.
The roses are good this year too,I have seen so many dog roses in the hedgerow.
I love your felted pots, the sea colours are beautiful.

I'm impressed with the beautiful vessels, Jackie. And my sister has the same sentiments about her garden - she lost her dog at Christmas, and misses him dreadfully, but says her garden has never looked better. It won't last though - she gets a puppy at the end of July!

That flower/vine is beautiful - what is it? The rescued pot looks great (but then again, I liked it before too). Wish I could come to Woolfest!

Your hydrangea is stunning, your hosta would have been too!... Need to scatter coffee grounds around maybe? I love what you have done with your bowls. The appliqued one has really come to life.
Have a great time at Woolfest and enjoy the rest of lovely June.

Lovely photos Jackie. We are just at that time of year before the gardens get lush, blowsy and overgrown - I love it! A time of new growth starting to mature.

That tweak on the vessel really did the trick!

Loving those Hydrangea photos. My Hostas still in tact. Could be because they are in pots and are speckled with bright blue pellets.

Your vases are absolutely stunning!

will definitely be looking out for your pots - and you - at Woolfest

Where do you get a climbing hydrangea?? I never heard of that and I am in the market for something climbing for my shed wall. I tried clematis and the kids stomped it--never had a chance. Hydrangeas are one of my faves.

Those vessels have really turned out well. Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts!

Your vessels are gorgeous with and without the addition of your lovely stitches motifs. I like the lines of poetry in their titles. Very evocative. Have a great weekend and enjoy your garden. Ours is looking good too. I think it may be because we had a proper winter and have just learned that snow fertilizes the soil - most of us had plenty of that.

Not too hot but sunny enough to walk around outside ..... my favourite kind of day.

Lovely pieces that are going to the Woolfest, of course. My cousin has resorted to putting her hostas into hanging baskets to defeat the slugs - seems to be working. Your postcard to Emma is lovely by the way.

I am so glad you are having a wonderful June and that your garden is doing well. Don't worry about the "lacy" leaves those pesty snails are in every good garden.

I love your vessels.

I have just been to Woolfest today; we are very lucky to have such a brilliant show so close. I was pleased to see your brooches close up, and the vessels! I had an awful time deciding which brooch to buy, they are all so clever. I am going back tomorrow, and may have to buy some more, as presents.
