Peace comes dropping slow....

It wasn't the Lake Isle of Innisfree but I did find some peace there.

(Do click the above picture for the large version)
I heard the water 'Lapping with low sounds by the shore.'

This time last year I was writing about my trip to Marrakech.

Last week I was in Ballyvaughan, County Clare in the West of Ireland.
I hadn't wanted to go.
Reluctant was not a big enough word.

But I am so pleased I did.
My husband was brushing up on his concertina skills so I went along for the ride.
My friend came along for the first few days.

We walked along the coast road which follows the Burren down to the sea.
The bare hedges revealed many jewels.
A lane off to the right leads unceremoniously and surprisingly to a tower from the 16th Century

In the field close by is a sacred well.

I found more than peace.
I am renewed, refreshed, inspired, calm, and full of memories.

And I am going to bore you rigid with them.
Isn't it great to be a blogger?
Its like having your friends round to show them all your holiday snaps.

You don't have to read it if you don't want to.
But I can whenever I want to be reminded of a beautiful week.
The last picture is a drain cover....Celtic of course.

I love this post - and your last photo particularly, for I am working at the moment on a fabric book for a forthcoming trip to Ireland. What and where is it please i.e. what does it depict. It seems to be a perfect 'logo' to depict Ireland. And of course, Yeats, and that 'hive of the honeybee' though I think that quote is incorrect.

I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip. County Clare is one of my favorite places in Ireland - such great textures, colors, etc in the landscape.

So glad your trip turned out to be better than you anticipated and that you have been refreshed by it. This post is full of treasures, not least that lovely Celtic design. I've never been to Ireland but have heard how beautiful it is. Your photos are great and not in the least boring.

So glad you're home! I'm sure you've got lots of 'tales' to tell us on Friday? Beautiful photos - as usual - and one inspiring drain cover. Make ours look so boring? I feel a piece of felt coming on?

Great images Jackie - glad you found some peace - it does makes you feel good to be out and about in peaceful, tranquil places away from home. I love the little treasures especially the drain cover - I never thought I would be writing to anyone about feeling enthused about a drain cover - but what a gem!!!

Oh The Burren! I read a series of fiction about a medieval woman judge who lived in the Burren( forget the title and author).........have wanted to go there ever since.

Julie confirmed my feeling from those books that it's a magical place.

Please" bore" us some more, and post lots of photos :)

Great photos. I was especially charmed by the drain cover as I "collect" these in my travels and posted one a while back on my blog. Can't say I've seen one as pretty as that though! Happy St. P. Day.
