Two Little Miracles

Do you remember this photo?
Well it all got a bit overgrown and out of hand and the postman needed a sword, like the Prince in The Sleeping Beauty but with less incentive, so I went out to trim it a bit, and just look what I found!
A perfect tiny nest. Its swaying in the breeze dangling at the furthest extreme of the branches of the clematis.
I got my stepladders to have a closer look

and found little panting bodies inside. I don't know what they are and I hope I haven't disturbed them.

Isn't it just magical? A perfectly formed little pendant full of tiny baby birds. What can they be?

BREAKING NEWS: GOLDFINCHES!!!

I just snipped a few branches away for the time being and at that very moment the Prince arrived with his big brown bag and gave me this:
Arlee's missing parcel.
Its a miracle. For £3.07 its been all the way to Canada and back. You've got to hand it to the Royal Mail and whatever they have in Canada.

Its my own fault. I have the memory of a goldfish and by the time I had taken my eyes from the screen to the envelope I had forgotten one of the numbers in the address and put a 0 instead.

Which brings me to 'word verification'. I have failed at that so many times that some people are lucky to have had a comment at all. How do I know if a bendy stick is 'l' or 'I '?

So for your commenting pleasure I have disabled word verification.

Whats the worst that can happen?

Extra comments?

Bring 'em on!

Thank you for all your comments on my last post. Its nice to know it was helpful to a few people and that I wasn't teaching Grandmother to suck eggs/taking coal to Newcastle/selling ice cream to eskimos/insert your preferred metaphor here.

As I upload photos I see that I have, in three and a half months, used up 8% of my space on blogger so enjoy it while you can.

By my reckoning I only have two and a half years left.

Is anyone going to the Festival of quilts on Friday? I am hoping to have a coffee with Viv.
(Can I lose two stone in a week?)
(Maureen bring your homework!)

Yes, you are absolutely right I am attempting to machine embroidererer!! Attempts this morning were , shall we say, bad!! Are the stitches supposed to be different lengths? I shall conquer this, with a little help from my cyber friends!!!

What gorgeous little goldfinches - you must be a very proud aunty!!

I did a very similar thing with a blog giveaway parcel recently - I forgot the house number altogether! My brain has dissolved since the baby!

Hope you had a wonderful time at the festival of quilts - hope you blog it! I'm living vicariously via everyone else's blogged days out at the moment!!

Dear little goldfinches.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who messes up with word verification.

what a perfect treasure of a nest. I love goldfinches - they are one of my favorites here at home and I never tired of their sweet singing and the flash of bright yellow feathers from the males. I have a sack of thistle seeds for them which they love and so it is so much fun to see them spinning on the sack when its breezy.

The goldfinches that visit my garden are 'my little parrots', so I am very envious of your pendulous nest! (Bet you wondered what I was going to say then?) Glad the parcel turned up (it's a stress).
Looking forward to our coffee.

OMG! I have never admitted this in print, but I share your disablility. I cna't tell you how many tries it often takes me to get a post accepted. I was wondering if I lacked some intellectual ability!

Three cheers for no word verification! Three cheers for the GPO, three cheers for baby birds. And one for you for luck with that stone. (had you considered amputating a limb....I have!)

Nature on your doorstep-how exciting!
The word verification is a real pain in the neck...I never get it right first time!
BTW I hope it doesn't take 20 years to finish our bedroom but it wouldn't surprise me! We lived in our last flat 7 years and the paint had only just dried when the first potential buyers came to view !
Hope you have a good time at the festival of quilts...looking forward to the review :-)

Ooh that nest is fab. Little woven 3D form - I thought about using nests as a starting point for my HND final project. They fascinate me.

With you all the way on word verification. It's a nightmare. Must admit I get "typers cramp" with the amount of signings of usenames and passwords, let alone those random, indecipherable word combos tagged on the end. Grrr...

I am hugely jealous that I missed the FoQ this year. Chose to go to tag visit to sister's on end of hols instead as I didn't realise the date 'til it was too late. Knitting and Stitching here I come... :o)
