A Little Project and a Giveaway.

A little gentle easing back into sewing was this small project. A little card to welcome a new baby.
Because it was for a friend of a friend I have done my best airbrushing over the name which was pink, so they won't recognise it if they happen to see my blog. I'm sure they won't but you never know.

After my last post I was so touched by all the lovely comments and e-mails exhorting me to cheer up that I felt better immediately. Thank you everyone. As a little extra 'Thank you' and to belatedly celebrate my half century of blog posts I am giving away this Celtic Brooch.

I'll have a draw next weekend so if you are interested leave me a comment and I'll put your name in. (Even if you have been a lurker hitherto..come on!)

Meanwhile I am searching for a holiday.
Flights to The Greek Islands seem to have been booked up, unless we want to pay about £1000, or go to a very busy place.
We will have to wait till next year.
In the meantimewe are looking in the UK, possibly in Cornwall, but I'm not fussy, overlooking a nice little sandy cove, within reasonable reach of good restaurants, at a realistic price, after 4th and before 25th September.
Any ideas?

I had to come back and say that although I obviously look at your pics on flickr, I've just spent a while devouring the photos of your work in your flickriver widget. Just divine. Absolutely wonderful...love the black background, too - really enhancing.

The card is beautiful! Cornwall holidays...bliss! I know its packed with people but I just loved Polperro, Looe and St.Ives. St. Ives is so arty...I wish I could go again! Oh and I loved Mousehole. I'm sure you will find a less touristy little hollow and I hope you will give us all the details.

The brooch is lovely. Ooh how I would love to own a piece of your work. Pleeeeease put me in the draw.
Hols - there are so many bits of Cornwall I've still not visited. What about the Isle of Scilly? I've not been but it looks abosolutely gorgeous and less populated than Cornwall. Maybe more like your little Greek islands...

I agree with ethel up above here ~ Scilly Isles...wonderful.

An heirloom for that lucky babies' family.

That is a beautiful card - sure it will be very much appreciated. Cornwall in September sounds lovely. Fowey is a favourite haunt of mine although I've not been there for a few years. I can recommend a beautiful place in Tuscany too.
Oh... and I'd love to be included in the draw... please!

anywhere in Cornwall is great. st Ives is one of my favourites.
love the baby card.

I'm so glad you're feeling better - so sorry you were feeling low. Cornwall is so beautiful but I've only been twice so don't know it well enough for any top tips. If Cornwall doesn't work out, try the Dorset Coastal Cottages website- very pretty little properties near to Studland, in the Isle of Purbeck, close to Lyme etc etc. We've used them many times and they're fab.

That card is stunning - can I be in the draw too please? Hope that's OK.

BTW this is silverpebble - writing on Mr P's laptop so I don't wake the baby in the bedroom!

I want to come craft with you! Your fiber work is so pretty! I'm American and know nothing about a holiday in the UK, though I would love to first hand. However, thevintagemagpie lives in Devon, and her photos are always so beautiful. She said she isn't too far from the shore. Gorgeous brooch giveaway, one I would adore wearing. -- Michele, one of your daisy bouquets.

Lovely baby card. It is particularly nice to see colours working so well together as we have been having conversations about this at home. Penny has been struggling with getting her colours 'right'. It's pretty much everything, isn't it!! xx

Oh, I'd rather go to Cornwall than to Greece any old day! The last time we were there we staying in Tintagel at the most charming place called Trebrea Lodge. Alas, I read recently that it has been bought for a private home now. I do have some friends who live in Looe, but I don't know of any places to stay there, although I must say the place looks completely charming.

And, Edward and I are glad you're feeling better!

I am only just beginning my journey into the FME and am probably enjoying the "research" a bit too much LOL. I would love to be included in your draw. I can't recommend anywhere for your holiday - sorry, though have you thought of South Wales...beautiful place (was born there but currently reside in West Australia)

Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. The card is lovely - what a treat to add to their album.  Holidays - Cornwall is lovely, even in the rain - though I find the traffic congestion a little trying. I also love Pembrokeshire -round St davids is magical, long deserted beaches, ancient monuments and great art shops. Or what about Galloway? It's on the gulf stream so surprisingly mild, great scenery and again, very quiet so you have it to yourself. And yes please, even though I admit to owning 3 of your brooches alrady, it's just not possible to have too many!!Jo :0)

Ro Bruhn said...

I'm glad things have picked up for you. I love your pin too and the card for the luck baby.
We had a lovely holiday at St Ives a few years ago and also Ambleside in the Lakes District, but if you really feel like it you could come to good old Oz.

Wabbit said...

You could always come to Phoenix, AZ, USA where your pounds will go a long way! Hmmm... if we fixed it up for you to teach a class, is it tax deductible there as it is here? Then it's an even better bargain! It's sunny 300+ days a year here and it's still HOT. Sheesh, all that and I don't even like it here!

That being said, you know, I'd be happy to have the thread cuttings from your bin, Jackie! I love the pins I have from you but could you put me in the draw, too, please?

hippopip said...

I love your brooches and the soft colours of your felt dyeing, how about Ireland, weather usually atrocious but beautiful scenery and lovely people

Just finished reading thro your latest postings and as usual lots of variety of topics. Aren't you glad that you DID start this blog. I told you you wouldn't look back, you are much better at regular blogging than me, I am rather cheesed off at the mo as I am awaiting a date for my hip op and its looks like it won't be until late October so slightly down as I am finding getting around on two crutches a little frustrating. Creative juices are drying up as well!! Put me in the draw please Love Margaret

I have not done much on my blog recently, or much felting, as I have been busy running our veggie guest house in Cornwall! I have added your blog to my favourites list and look forward to returning often. Vanessa
