P.S. on selling

I forgot to say in the previous post I would still feel the need to produce large amounts of embroidery even if no-one bought anything.
But would also like to say that for me selling is a terrific ego-boost. To think that someone would part with their hard earned cash to own a piece of my work makes me feel grateful.
Selling validates my efforts, it justifies the time I spend on sewing and the money I have spent on it.
It supports my addiction to materials and equipment, magazines and books.
Above all it keeps me from the front of a school classroom.I am far happier manipulating fabric and thread than a class full of Primary School children in 'Literacy Hour', even though the financial rewards are much less.
So a big thank you to everyone out there who has a piece of my work in their possession.
Its nice to think of a little bit of me in the different corners of the world.
I think its the only way I'll get there!

Followed the link from Flickr and came here - so glad I found your blog.

I've been an admirer of your work for ages. Still takes my breath away seeing the things on your pages.

Oh, I know what you mean. I've made things to give as gifts so have put extra work into them and then when it's time to give the gift I'm like oooooooooo, here you go -- and they practically have to rip it out of my hands. I end up loving the piece so much that I hate to part with it. Happy when they love it, but sorry to see it go none the less.

Your work is stunning - so richly coloured and almost edible. Found you via Gina's site. I'll be visiting again and thinking about an etsy purchase....

Hi Jackie,
I agree it's a big ego trip when people part with hard earned cash for your work and it feeds the book and material addiction. I went into the attic to look for some old white mens handkerchiefs (well they were inherited from some old white men)to rust dye and do image transfer on and realized just how much stuff I have. I have to stop the materials buying.
Anyway you just have to sell some stuff because you would run out of space at home if you didn't.

Your work is just so gorgeous! I've added you to my links on my blog and I'll definitely be following along!

Your work is quite inspirational! (Even if I don't have time to utilize any of the incoming inspiration I get from so many wonderful sources.)

Ditto to all of the above! I too would still continue carving but it is great to feel validated and the income makes life so much easier. I hate to think of the office work I would have to do if I wasn't earning by doing what I love most in the world. Aahhh, and the book addiction? Gotta feed it you know! Books before modern appliances and clothes.....and then the books feed the art making with all those wonderful ideas. Or that's what I tell myself anyway.

Jackie,
You put it so nicely. It's the same I would like to say to all my buyers but I cannot put it so good in English... Isn't it rewarding that people from around the world cherrish your art? I wouldn'l like to miss it any more, even it represents parting with the pieces before getting even attached to them...
